Learning about Riverford’s organic fruit and vegetable delivery service

Today’s curiosity is an organic veg and fruit box from Riverford organic farmers in the UK. I found the Riverford website on LinkedIn as I have been researching regenerative agriculture and other climate-friendly farming topics. Riverford read to me as an operation that partners farmers with technologists, which appealed to my interests.

Another curiosity has been growing fruits and vegetables in the UK. I was curious how much can be grown outside and in greenhouses. I had tried a vegetable box years ago to support local farmers but wasn’t fully utilising all the food then. Now with improved cooking skills and a desire to give allowed snacks to the farm animals , I wanted to revisit a box scheme. My goals were to examine Riverford’s and understand a bit better how the food is grown.

I was immediately curious about the bananas. The bananas are not grown in the UK and all the information about that is shared which is great.

I really like riverford’s site. I stumbled upon the online magazine too https://wickedleeks.riverford.co.uk/. Wicked Leeks! I get it! This looks like a lot of fun reading. I signed Rover Planet up for the newsletter.

I think it is safe to say I will just check out the site as there is plenty ready to satisfy my curiosity.

I did not address my greenhouse curiosity as of this writing. There are great list of growers listed to inform myself and learn. I am looking to start growing more myself. Riverford is helping me understand better how an ecosystem can work.
